I know I promised an entry about beer - I'm still doing just a little more research. Instead, you get Segundo, and the entry below. He works 8 or 9 hours a day and earns 6 dollars - a day. He's 56 years old, been a campesino all his life. He's about 5'3", The strongest man I have ever known, the guy is a horse. Could outwork 50 the likes of me. I don't even try to keep up with him.
I tell him people earn 10 dollars an hour in the states, and he says, yeah, but what do you pay for rent and light and water? He's got no complaints.

Lori & I went to friends today out a bit from us and still way in the country. Drank some beer and listened to some john Prine courtesy of a 79 VW Vanagon names "Olivia" in cherry condition. Thought about how poor the folks were that have the half million dollar palaces and the pricvacy fences, suburbia and the false riches...then looked around and saw how much better it was to be in el campo. Real wealth does not come from a fat wallet...I grabbed another beer and drank it down...

Just looked at the flickr site with the pics. Great to see what you are seeing. Nice to know where you are, too. It looks like you lost some weight... drink more beer.
Hey Roger,
I was pretty excited when you were talking about building raised beds. Now it sounds like maybe you will be teaching basic farming and sanitation before moving on to the more advanced techniques. You have probably already heard but, Antioch campus in Yellow Springs is closing due to low enrollement. We are in a drought here. Watering 4 to 8 hours a day. Keep your rows staright. I'll talk to you later. Brian S.
